Could Kevin Curtis Be On the Trade Block?

Kevin Curtis could be making his way out of Philly.

With the
recent trade of Braylon Edwards from Cleveland to the New York Jets, is it possible that the Eagles could unload Kevin Curtis before the Week 6 trade deadline?

The whispers around the NovaCare Complex are that the Eagles coaches are flat-out sick of Curtis. He can't stay healthy, and even when he seemingly is healthy, he makes stupid mental mistakes like dropping a pass right in his hands.

Add on the fact that he can't block and you've got a wide receiver that Andy Reid could do without.

There's obviously a market for wide receivers, and for the first time since Reid got to Philly, the Eagles have excess at the position as they've been keeping rookie Brandon Gibson inactive for three out of four games this season.

The perfect trading partner would seem to be the Baltimore Ravens and former Eagles coach Jon Harbaugh. The Ravens worked out David Tyree and Ronald Curry earlier this week, and even with Curtis' struggles recently, he's certainly better than either of those guys.

In fact, with Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton on the outside, Curtis may be able to make an impact with the Ravens coming out of the slot.

The fact of the matter is that there's just no place for him on this team anymore. Jeremy Maclin had his breakout game, and will now be the starter from here on out. DeSean Jackson has already become a superstar, so he's got the flanker position covered. He could come out of the slot, but the Eagles have Jason Avant.

Curtis is probably better, well, he is better, than Reggie Brown and at the moment is certainly better than the rookie Gibson. However, the Eagles aren't ready to give up on Brown, who is still a young guy, and really like Brandon Gibson's upside.

Also working against Curtis is his age, as he's past that dreaded 3-0 mark that the Eagles seem to have circled for veteran players to hit the road.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, I'm just saying don't be surprised if Curtis gets move for a draft pick or two in an effort to continue the youth movement sweeping this Eagles franchise.
