Sixers Win the Lottery, Get Second Overall Pick in Draft

Could Turner be the Sixers' pick at No. 2 overall?

Entering the lottery, the Sixers were slated as the sixth-worst team in the league. Given that dubious distinction, there was only a six percent chance they would move up as high as the second overall pick, but that is exactly what happened.

"We hope our fans are as excited by the outcome of tonight’s draft lottery as we are," said Sixers' Czar Ed Stefanski. "We are fortunate that the ping-pong balls bounced our way tonight, and to move up to the second overall pick in a draft that features several impact players will provide us even more options as we move through the off-season to improve our team."

And with that second overall pick, the Sixers have their pick of the litter -- except, of course, for John Wall who will likely go No. 1 overall to the Washington Wizards.

So where do the Sixers look after that? Well, there's obviously a number of directions in which they could go but, for me, only one makes sense, and that's Evan Turner out of Ohio State.

The Sixers lack a true scorer currently, and Turner would give them that almost immediately.

Last season at Ohio State, Turner averaged 20.4 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game, six assists per game, 1.7 steals per game, shot 52 percent from inside the arc, 36 percent from outside the arc, and 76 percent of his free-throws.

He also carried OSU in the NCAA tournament, causing some around the country to call him, and not Wall, the best college basketball player in the country.

There's no sure-fire way to know what Stefanski is thinking -- ever -- so it's certainly not a lock that Turner ends up a Sixer, but this seems too clear cut for even Stefanski to mess up.
