Only One Player Taken in NFL's Supplemental Draft

Written By Bob Cunningham On Thursday, July 16, 2009

Jarmon was the only player selected in the draft.

Just for some background, the Supplemental Draft is just for players who did not declare for the draft, are old enough to play in the NFL, but are ineligible to play college football for one reason or another.

The most notable pick out of this draft was probably the selection of Cris Carter in the fourth round by none other than the Philadelphia Eagles in 1987.

This draft is so small that usually only one player is selected, and the draft is done via email. Whichever team is willing to give up the highest pick will get the rights to that player. The teams use their draft picks for next year.

Well, it turns out that the Redskins will be without a third-round selection next year after using it on Jeremy Jarmon, a defensive end out of Kentucky.

Jarmon would have been a senior this year at Kentucky, but was kicked off the team due to testing positive for a banned substance.

Jarmon is a beast at 6'3 and 277 pounds, and is very good at both stopping the run and rushing the passer.

The Eagles probably only put a fourth-round selection on the table, as they felt a third was too high. But, leave it to Danny boy to have to outdo everyone.

He probably doesn't even know anything about Jarmon, just wanted him because everyone else did.

Anyway, let's hope that the Eagles didn't miss out on a good one, they obviously thought enough of him that they brought him in for a visit, hopefully they didn't like what they saw and are now laughing at the Redskins.
