Kevin Kolb Is the Emergency Third Quarterback

Written By Bob Cunningham On Sunday, October 18, 2009

Kolb is inactive, and the third quarterback this week.

When Michael Vick was signed, everyone wondered what the Eagles would do with their quarterback situation. Keeping three active every week just doesn't seem feasible, but Vick as the emergency third quarterback wouldn't make sense either.

Kevin Kolb was asked if he thought he'd be put into that "emergency third quarterback" role, to which he replied that Andy Reid had told him he was the second quarterback, and that it would stay that way. He said he trusted Andy to keep his word.

Well, he may want to re-think how he views the world, and more specifically how he views the word of an NFL head coach.

While Reid would have loved, I'm sure, to keep his word to Kolb, it just wasn't plausible to think he could keep all three guys active every single week.

Trevor Laws will be playing this week after being a healthy scratch last week. Kevin Curtis and Todd Herremans are the only guys inactive as a result of injury. Brandon Gibson, Mike McGlynn, Joe Mays, and Jason Babin are also inactive.
