Another Report of Eagles Looking to Move Up

Derrick Morgan, not Earl Thomas, could be the pick.

Derrin Horton of NFL Network is hanging out at Eagles headquarters today for the draft, and he's reporting that the Bird are looking to move up into the top 10, and perhaps even into the top five with an intent of drafting a top-flight safety or defensive end.

Peter King reported last week that the Eagles would like to trade up for either Eric Berry or Earl Thomas, but Horton is now reporting that Andy Reid and Howie Roseman could have their eyes on either Derrick Morgan or Jason Pierre-Paul.

Any of those four guys look to be instant impact-players, so I'd be in support of drafting any of those four players. However, I think I'd still prefer they go with a safety, only because both Thomas and Berry appear to be more NFL-ready than Morgan or Pierre-Paul.

Morgan and Pierre-Paul might have more upside, but there's also more risk with those guys because their main attraction to NFL teams is their incredible athleticism rather than production in college -- something Berry and Thomas both have.

I still believe the Eagles will pull off a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Eagles want to move up and the Jags are desperate to move back, so it's a perfect match. The Jaguars would probably like to draft Tim Tebow -- regardless of how much they deny it -- but he's certainly not worth the 10th overall pick.

The 24th pick, however, is a bit more like it. It's still far too early in my opinion, but Jack Del Rio and the Jags are going to feel much more comfortable drafting him in the latter portion of the draft rather than the top 10.

There's also talks now that the Dallas Cowboys might be looking to move up to No. 13 with the San Francisco 49ers in an attempt to grab Thomas, so trading up between the 10th and 12th pick will be the Eagles' only option if they want Thomas as much as it seems.

Regardless, it's going to be an incredible next few days.
